Wheat futures contracts experienced a significant reversal on Thursday, as early session gains evaporated and bearish sentiment intensified into the close, resulting in widespread losses across major benchmarks.
Chicago SRW contracts concluded the session 1 ¾ to 4 ¾ cents lower across most active contracts. This downturn was mirrored in Kansas City HRW futures, which saw declines ranging from 1 ¼ to 6 cents across the board, indicating broad-based selling pressure.
Minneapolis spring wheat futures also contributed to the bearish trend, registering losses starting at 3 ¼ cents lower, with further declines indicated across its contracts. The collective movement suggests a strong late-day shift in market sentiment, overriding any initial positive momentum.
The consistent downward pressure observed in the wheat complex by Thursday’s close highlights a challenging trading day for the commodity, with bearish forces firmly in control.
