The date for the annual Community Costs Bonus payment in Jersey has been brought forward to July, a move designed to provide financial relief to eligible households sooner. Previously disbursed in the autumn, the payment has been shifted to July for the past couple of years and will continue this practice through 2026.
Early Disbursement for Cost of Living Pressures
According to the Government of Jersey, the decision to advance the payment date is intended to “help families as soon as possible with cost of living pressures.” This one-off lump sum payment for eligible households will amount to £516.50.
Application and Eligibility Details
Automatic payments will be processed for claimants whose eligibility has already been confirmed. For those who need to apply, the application window opens on 14 July. The government has confirmed that the eligibility criteria will remain consistent with those in place for 2025.
Key Eligibility Requirements:
- Applicants must have resided in Jersey for a minimum of five years.
- Combined tax liability for the household in 2025 must be less than £2,735.
- Households currently receiving income support are not eligible for this bonus.
The estimated funding allocated for this scheme is £2.466 million, which will be drawn from existing budgets within the Department for Employment, Social Security, and Housing.
This early disbursement of the Community Costs Bonus underscores the government’s commitment to addressing immediate financial challenges faced by residents, ensuring support reaches those who need it most during periods of heightened cost of living.
